Day 1: CHENNAI: ARRIVAL

On your arrival at Chennai, international airport, welcome by our representative & you will be transferred to Hotel for 03 nights.
Chennai is the largest city in Tamil Nadu and is located on the southeastern coast of India. The city was formerly known as Madras and was established by the British. They developed it into a significant urban center and naval base. Around 20th century, Chennai became an important administrative headquarter and the capital of Madras Presidency. The growth and expansion of British Empire led to development of the city. It has been endowed with the rich heritage of art and culture.

Day 02: CHENNAI

After noon set out for a half day guided sightseeing tour of the Fort St. George near the harbor area of Chennai. The British built this fort in the 17th century. You will also visit the St. Mary's Church- This church was the first English church in India, built in the year 1680 & oldest Protestant Church in the East. Fort Museum has 10 galleries & displays armory, old uniforms, crockery & silverware, coins, palanquins, paintings, letters, old prints, etc. San Thome Cathedral, built in 1504, is said to house the remains of St. Thomas the Apostle, who is believed to have visited Madras (Chennai) sometime during 52 AD. Evening have a stroll on Beach.

Day 03: CHENNAI / KANCHIPURAM / CHENNAI {75+75 KM}

In the morning set out for a day excursion tour of Kanchipuram {75 km from Chennai}; this temple town was once the capital of the Pallava dynasty. Kanchipuram is one of the India's Seven sacred cities. The silk sarees produced here are famous throughout the world. Where you will visit the Vaikuntam Perumal Temple. This temple is one of the important Vishnu temples which was built by Pallava King Nandivarman Pallavamalla in the 7th century A.D. The presiding deity Lord Vishnu is depicted in sitting, standing and reclining postures. After visiting this temple we visit the Kailasanathar Temple - this Pallava temple was constructed in the 8th century and has an attractive panel depicting Shiva and Parvathi in the midst of one of their innumerable dance competitions. The architecture of this temple resembles the Shore Temple at Mamallapuram. After visiting the temple drive back to Chennai.

Day 04: CHENNAI / MAHABALIPURAM / PONDICHERRY {165 KM / 04 HRS}

Morning drive to Pondicherry enroute visiting Mamallapuram {Mahabalipuram} situated on the shores of the Bay of Bengal, was once a port of the Pallavas. The Pallavas have created many marvellous monuments, caves, monolithic Rathas and Temples. Visit the Arjuna's Penance. This skillfully carved rock is the largest bas-relief sculpture in the world. This sculpture derived its name from Arjuna, the hero of Mahabharata, who performed a penance to obtain a boon from Lord Siva. After visiting the Arjuna's Penance we visit the Five Rathas, also known as the Pancha Pandava Rathas. There are five monolithic temples, each created in different style. Four of the Rathas are supposed to have scooped out of a single rock formation. Later we visit the Shore Temple. This temple is one of the oldest temples in South India. It belongs to the 8th Century AD and is a good example of the first phase of structural temples constructed in Dravidian style. After visiting the temples drive straight to Pondicherry, upon arrival check in at Hotel for 01 night. Evening enjoy a stroll at the Beach. Over night stay in Pondicherry.

 

Day 05: PONDICHERRY / VELANKANNI {175 KM / 04 HRS}

Morning half day guided trail will take you into the heart of the city and help you understand the various regions in the town such as the Tamil, French and Muslim areas with their distinct architectural influences. The old Pondicherry town has a unique charm, which captivates the hearts of visitors. To experience the spirit of Pondicherry it is essential to walk through the old town and closely observe the nature of its architectural traditions. Later visit the Sri Aurobindo Ashram, which is a world famous Yoga and philosophy center and Auroville, this is a small town 6 km north of Pondicherry. This town was a vision of The Mother from Sri Aurobindo Ashram at Pondicherry as it's an international town. She envisioned a town where unity will be celebrated and all will have a spiritual vocation. The town has 1,700 people from over 35 different nationalities, from which about one third are Indians (more than 15% are French and 15% are German).
Later drive to Velankanni and check in at hotel for 01 night. Later half day sightseeing tour of The Old Velankanni - popularly called "Our Lady of Vailankanni" is artributed to Mary, mother of Jesus in the small town of Velankanni. A Basilica artributed to both Portuguese and Indians stands in and around the sites of three apparitions. The iconic depiction of Our Lady of Good Health is also unique since it is one of two only icons where Mother Mary is shown wearing a sari (the only other is said to have been buried by Aurangzeb). In the evening you can attend the Novena Prayer followed by the holy Mass in St. Mary Basilica.

Day 06: VELANKANNI / TANJORE / POONDI / KARAIKUDI {225 KM / 05 ½ HRS}

Morning you will drive to Karaikudi enroute visiting Brigadeswarar temple {world heritage monument}. This temple is one of India's most prized architectural sites. Later drive to Poondi a small village, where you will visit Poondi Matha Church - It is considered as one of the Roman Catholic Pilgrim centre similar to Velankanni, which houses the famous Poondi Matha Shrine that attracts pilgrims from all over India. Upon arrival, check in at Hotel for 01 night. Chettinad is well known for its Chettinad cuisine, Mansions, and Temples. You can visit Museum {old converted house}. Experience the Chettinad traditional food.

Day 07: KARAIKUDI / MADURAI {95 KM / 03 HRS}

Morning, after breakfast you will leave for Madurai, upon arrival check in at Hotel for 01 night.
Madurai situated on the bank of river Vaigai is also referred to as the Athens of the East. Madurai has the most outstanding examples of Vijayanagar temple architecture in the Minakshi Temple, a standing monument to the temple builders of the 16th and 17th century. We spend enough time in Minakshi Temple and afterwards have a walk through the bazaars of this 2500 years old town.
Later set out for a sightseeing tour of Tirumalai Nayaka Palace. This palace was built in the 1636 and represents the Indo-Mughal style and Gandhi Museum. In Gandhi Museum we get the information about the life of Gandhi and freedom movement during the presence of British in India.

Day 08: MADURAI / THEKKADY {165 KM / 04 ½ HRS}

After breakfast departure from hotel at 08:30 clock and drive to Periyar (also known as Thekkady). The name comes from the Periyar dam, here by the British in 1895 was created. The Wildlife Reserve is an ideal place for wild animals like elephants, Detect bison, deer and many species of exotic birds. The landscape here is very tropical and you will meet again on tea and coffee plantations and spice gardens. After Check-in at the hotel. We will take place at 14:00 on a guided elephant safari, which will give a unique experience, seated a top an elephant along rides in to the spice plantation to get the good views of valleys and mountains of a plantation near place, where different types of spices and other aromatic plants are planted. An hour programmed of safari including elephant bath, feeding and Photo session, Commands and communication. At Opportunity you are invited to visit a tea factory nearby.

Day 09: THEKKADY / ALLEPPEY {160 KM / 04 HRS}

Morning at 6:30 a.m. set out to enjoy a very popular boat ride on the Periyar Lake and observe the activities of elephants, tiger, bison, wild oxen, wild boar, spotted deer and the local golden langur monkeys live only in this part of India. Return to the hotel at 10.00 clocks. After brief refreshment, check out and drive to Alleppey. Alleppey - the coastal town on the Arabian Sea is known as the Venice of the East and famous for the numerous backwater canals that meander through the town. This town holds a thrilling event of snake boat race every year during August. It is also known for its cashew nuts.
Upon arrival check in at {cruise} a traditional houseboat of Kerala style and enjoy the cruise through the backwaters. The backwater in Alleppey houses a variety of fauna, flora and marine life. On the way you will see various local activities of the people living along the backwaters and also visit some of the tourist places on the way. The Backwater cruise in Alleppey is the fabulous way to explore the fascinating beauty of the backwaters.

Day 10: ALLEPPEY / COCHIN {60 KM / 1 ½ HRS}

Morning disembarks from Cruise {House Boat} and drive to Cochin, Cochin is the most interesting town in South India at Malabar Coast and is also known as Venice of South.
Later guided City tour of Cochin - the "Dutch Palace in Mattancherry known for its intricate wall paintings. The Jewish synagogue is located in the heart "of the City of ‘’Jews ". In addition, there is the church of St. Francis, the oldest European church in India. We continue to the Basilica built by the Portuguese in 1557 and Santa Cruz traditional spice market, which is found in the narrow streets of the city.
Also visit The Chinese fishing nets at Fort Kochi; they are fixed land installations, which are used for a very unique and unusual method of fishing. Operated from the shore, these nets are set up on bamboo and teak poles and held horizontally by huge mechanisms, which lower them into the sea. They look somewhat like hammocks and are counter-weighed by large stones tied to ropes. If you like to eat fish, then you can buy very fresh fish and these can be prepared in one of the nearby restaurants.
Evening by 1700 hrs enjoy a show of the Kath kali dance and enjoy the history of this city, this dance is characterized by grotesque gestures, amazing costumes and very elaborate makeup. Stories of the Gods are mostly from the Ramayana and Mahabharata epics and total entertainment. At the show there are 2 drummers and one or more than two dancers who are dressed beautifully and dance with grace. These dancers depict the stories of the mythological themes and their job is visual dance, moves and making gestures with their hands and faces.

Day 11: COCHIN / KOVALAM {230 KM / 05 HRS}

Morning you will drive to Kovalam, upon arrival check in at Hotel for 03 nights. Thirty years ago, Kovalam was a hippy idyll a picture perfect tropical beach, a traditional fishing village providing fresh fish, fruits and (coconut beer). Today this tiny beach is the focus of a multi-million dollar business, drawing thousands of tourists for a week dose of ozone, UV and a refreshing Indian Experience. Today Kovalam beach is known as the "Paradise of the South". Kovalam means a grove of coconut trees and true to its name the village offers an endless sight of coconut trees. The crescent-shaped beach has three parts. The southern most beaches, and the most popular, are light house beach. It offers an amazing sight of Vizhinjam mosque. The northern Samudra is a laidback one and time seems stands still here. The middle, hawah, in the early day, is a beehive of activities with fishermen setting out for sea. With a high rock promontory and a calm bay of blue waters, this beach paradise creates a unique aquarelle on moonlit nights.

Day 12: KOVALAM / KANYAKUMARI / KOVALAM {75 KM / 02 HRS – ONE WAY}

Morning you will drive to Kanyakumari a holy palace for Hindus. Kanyakumari takes its name from the Kumari Amman or Kanyakumari Temple, situated in the town, on the sea-shore, the very confluence of the three water-bodies - Bay of Bengal, Indian Ocean and the Arabian Sea. You will enjoy half day sightseeing tour of Kanyakumari including Kumari Amman Temple picturesquely situated overlooking the shore; this temple and the nearby ghat attract pilgrims from all over India to worship and to bathe. Photography is not allowed inside the temple and men need to remove their shirt to enter the temple, Gandhi Memorial Next to the Kumari Amman Temple; this striking memorial stored the Mahatma's ashes until they were immersed in the sea. It resembles an Orissan temple and was designed so that on Gandhi's birthday (2- October), the sun's rays fall on the place where his ashes were kept. Also visit Vivekanada rock and enjoy Ferry ride.

Day 13: KOVALAM

Day is free on own to relax and enjoy the Hotel and Beach of Kovalam or treat yourself to a ayurvedic massage at the hotel, sunbathing, or a delicious meal in one of the fish restaurants on the beach to enjoy.

Day 14: KOVALAM / TRIVANDRUM {20 KM / ½ HR}
