Chomolhari Trek

This trek takes us close to Bhutan's sacred mountain, Chomolhari. The path begins near the fort of Shana which is not far from Paro the ancient capital of Bhutan. It continues up through pine forests, yak herders settlements and over a 4600m high pass. Beyond the pass we enter a mountain world of snow peaks, lakes and meadows of wild flowers, where herds of wild bharal - blue sheep - roam. During our stay in Paro, we walk close to the Tiger's Nest Monastery, a monastery situated on the edge of a rock face. Our trek ends close to Thimphu the current day capital of Bhutan.

Day 01 : Kathmandu to Paro Fly
Fly to Paro from Kathmandu.
Day 02 : Paro Sightseeing
After breakfast drive to Satsam Chorten and from there to Taktsang Monastery which means "Tiger's Nest". The Monastery is perched on a rocky ledge with a sheer drop of nearly 4000-ft. and overlooks the Paro valley.
Day 03 : Paro to Shana (2800 m)
Drive to Drugyel Dzong and from here the trek starts. The route follows the river through narrowing valley and agricultural fields.
Day 04 : Shana to Soi Thangthangkha
The trek continues uphill through the river valley and ends to Soi Thangthangkha.
Day 05 : Soi Thangthangkha to Jangothang (4040 m)
The trek starts up the Pa Chu.The valley begins to widen again. All around High Mountain ridges and snow-capped peaks come into views.
Day 06 : Jangothang
Hike around the area. Chomolhari and its subsidiary mountain chains lay directly west and a number of unscaled peaks to the east.
Day 07 : Jangothang to Lingshi (4150 m)
The trek route passess through wide yak pastures and up and down passes. You can have a clear view of Lingshi Dzong too.
Day 08 : Lingshi
An excursion around Lingsi.you can have a plentiful view of blue sheep and musk deer.
Day 09 : Lingshi to Shodu (3963 m)
The trial continues to the Yalila Pass. From the pass one can get an excellent view of Mt. Chomolhari, Tserim Gang and Masagang .The trek continues to Shodu.
Day 10 : Shodu to Barshong (3785 m)
The trek route passes through the Thim-Chu River through forests of Rhododendron.Waterfalls can be seen along the way. The valley later ascends to Barshong Dzong.
Day 11 : Barshong to Dolam Kencho (3628 m)
The trek passes through thick forest of Rhododendron to Thim-Chu, which take you to Dolam Kencho.
Day 12 : Dolam Kencho to Thimphu
The trail continues through forested areas winding up and down and through a small pass. Monkeys can be seen along the way.
Day 13 : Thimphu -Day excursion to Punakha and Wangdi
Drive to Punakha and Wangdi. Visit Punakha Dzong and then return to Thimphu.
Day 14 : Thimphu Sightseeing
After breakfast drive to visit Tashichho Dzong.Also visit the handicraft emporium where Bhutanese textiles and other arts are displayed. Visit the painting and woodcraft schools where traditional art and painting are still kept alive. Visit the Memorial Chorten, the National Library and Simtokha Dzong.
Day 15 : Thimphu to Paro to Kathmandu Fly
Drive to Paro International airport and then fly back to Kathmandu.
